Tucker E. Axum III, a.k.a. "Trey," began studying LOTUS
Self-Defense under the tutelage of Ajarn Mack Petry
in Lafayette, Louisiana on March 2, 1995. Tucker attended LOTUS
classes in both Lafayette and Abbeville, and earned his black belt on
October 3, 2003. Since then, Tucker has traveled to Atlanta, Georgia
(January 2005
and February 2009) to train with Ajarn Michael Weeks,
Ajarn Larry Clark,
Ajarn Jack Gentry, and
Ajarn Erik Wyman, as well as Spokane, Washington
(May 2005) to train with Ajarn Roy Harrington.
In addition to training in LOTUS, Tucker has
formally studied Judo under Sensei Jeff Miller and Yoshinkan Aikido under
Sensei Allen Curry. Tucker has taught LOTUS Self-Defense, Knife and Gun Disarming seminars,
and ground combat seminars to law enforcement, military personnel, and to martial arts instructors
and students. He has also written various martial arts and
self-defense
articles.
Martial Way Concepts produced an instructional
gun and knife disarming DVD in 2005 with
Tucker as the demonstrating instructor. The DVD is no longer available, but it's
possible to arrange a seminar. Tucker is currently living in Southern
Italy.
Tucker holds a Bachelor's of Science Degree
in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. In
addition to managing this website, Tucker actively stays in contact with all
the different LOTUS head instructors and is considered by some to be the
historian for LOTUS.
Tucker is also passionate about general
aviation.
He earned his pilot's license in 2001 and tries to never pass an opportunity
to go flying.
