JACK GENTRY (031B)

Jack Gentry was an enlisted airman in the United States Air Force.  He started his martial arts training in 1970 under James Parker Jr. of the Shorinryu Matsumura orthodox Karate-do while stationed in Nha Trang Rep. of South Vietnam.  There Jack obtained the rank of green belt.  Jack transfered to Griffith Air Force Base, Rome NY in 1971 where he studied Taekwondo and achieved the rank of brown belt.

When he was stationed in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, he began his martial arts training in 1973 by studying LOTUS Self-Defense under Ajarn Precha Mahachanavong, the founder of LOTUS, at the Mahachanavong School of LOTUS Self-Defense in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand.

In addition to holding a black belt in LOTUS, Ajarn Jack also holds a black belt in Hapkido, which he studied when he was stationed in Osan, South Korea.

After an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, Ajarn Jack now teaches LOTUS in Charlotte, North Carolina at the Ray of Hope Center at St. Paul Baptist Church.  The name of his school is "Royal Guardians."  In addition to teaching LOTUS, his recent studies have been in Aikido under Master Lamard Wingster of Troopers Touch, Bronx, NY.

This is a picture of Ajarn Jack's black belt certificate.  He tested to brown belt but Ajarn Precha awarded him his black belt since he was being transferred from Thailand and since he had previous experience in the martial arts (a brown belt in Taekwondo).
